PCH Tour: The EMP and Drinks with Friends

I5 Downtown Seattle

Day 12 – My last full day in Seattle. These pit stops never last long enough. I got up late and still barely had a voice after a night of karaoke fun. I took my bike into the shop to get it looked over, after my crash a couple of days ago. The guy was super nice. He checked everything out, made sure it was shifting, realigned the handle bars, checked the wheel balance and lubed the chain. He said everything looked good and handed the bike over to me. I asked him what I owed him and he told me not to worry about it, that there was nothing to fix. I thanked him and took the bike back to the apartment.

I took another walk down Pike and ended up in the market again. I grabbed a Starbucks and 2 more pork hom bows and began my trip back to the City Center. I decide I was going to check out the EMP as I devoured the doughy deliciousness.

The EMP has a Nirvana and Jimmy Hendrix exhibit. They both got me excited about rock and playing guitar again. If there’s one thing I regret, it’s not sticking with music longer. I get a special buzz from rock that I can’t seem to find anywhere else. They had tons of memorabilia and shattered guitars, along with some great little documentaries that you could sit down and watch. There was a giant music video exhibit as well, with tons of videos and history behind differing visual styles. I also noticed they had a nice big Macklemore exhibit with his clothes from the Thrift Shop video. Seattle rap baby!

In the basement there was a great Sci-Fi and Horror film exhibit with everything from Blade Runner and Aliens, to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Evil Dead 2. I had fun connecting with all of the works and getting inspired again.

When I finished with the exhibits I walked up the hill to Kerry Park where I grabbed the cityscape shot in the last post. I realized that a couple of old friends, Chad and Marie, where in town so we decided to meet at Six Arms, a bar on Pike.

It was a long walk back there from Kerry, so I took a pit stop at KFC and grabbed a 3 piece crispy chicken meal. I felt like a kid again. From there I made it to the bar where we caught up and had some laughs over some tasty brews. – This pic was of I5 at sunset.
